Superion Indirect Decompression System
Superion Indirect Decompression System & Lumbar Spinal Stenosis
This device is the new standard of care for Lumbar Spinal Stenosis (LSS). It provides patients with a clinically-proven treatment option in the form of a minimally invasive procedure that is simple, safe, and effective.
What is Lumbar Stenosis and How Can I Treat it?
Lumbar Spinal Stenosis (LSS) is a degenerative condition of the lumbar spine. As we age, the soft tissue, or “discs,” between the vertebrae (bones that make up the spine) become worn down. This causes the spinal canal to narrow which can put pressure on the nerves in the lower back. This pressure can lead to radiating leg, buttock, and/or groin pain. People with LSS typically cannot walk farther than 50 feet without feeling this pain and need to sit down or lean forward to find relief.
One recent solution to LSS is Vertiflex’s Superion Indirect Decompression System, which was developed to treat those patients who suffer from moderate degenerative LSS. This device acts as an extension blocker, allowing the spinal canal to stay extended when standing and relieves pressure on those affected nerves.
Superion is an alternative to traditional surgery, offering a minimally invasive procedure that is simple, safe, and effective. Designed with patient safety and comfort in mind, Superion is implanted through a small tube the size of a dime to reduce tissue damage and blood loss. It’s a simple outpatient procedure with a rapid recovery time and no destabilization of the spine.
Superion’s effectiveness is validated by years of clinical research and is FDA-approved. Superion is clinically shown to be effective for up to 48 months. Certain risks are associated with the use of Superion. Consult your doctor for more information regarding these risks.
