Shin splints, also referred to as medial tibial stress syndrome, occurs when undue stress is applied to the shinbone (the tibia) and to the tissues in the leg that connect the tibia to the muscles. Runners who overexert themselves or who run in inappropriate shoes or on hard surfaces could experience shin splints. The result is pain in the front of the lower leg.
Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis and is defined as the wear-and-tear degeneration of joint cartilage and the surrounding bone. The condition can become more painful over time and with continued use of the joint. Although osteoarthritis tends to be associated with the elderly, it can also happen to young athletes.
An uncomfortable tingling or a prickly sensation in your legs may be symptoms of peripheral neuropathy. Peripheral neuropathy can happen as a result of an infection, from taking certain medications, or from diabetes. Doctors treat neuropathy by treating the condition which caused it.
