
Matt McCarty, MD
Dr Matt McCarty is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist who is also ACGME Fellowship Trained in Pain Medicine. He received his undergraduate degree from Baylor University and medical school education from the University of Oklahoma. He completed his Anesthesiology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Afterwards, he and his wife moved to Tyler, Texas where he practiced Anesthesiology for over 13 years. While there his desire to provide full time Chronic Pain Management matured. He then completed a one year fellowship at the University of South Florida receiving his Advanced Subspecialty Certification in Pain Medicine.
He then moved to Austin with his precious wife and 4 children and now has been practicing pain management since 2003. He continues to enjoy helping restore function to his patients caught in the grip of chronic pain through the use of advanced interventional techniques, behavioral therapy, physical therapy and medications.
Gus Lowry, MD
The newest member of Balcones Pain Consultants, Dr. Gus Lowry is uniquely qualified to care for chronic pain patients. He is board certified in internal medicine and anesthesiology as well as board eligible in pain medicine. A native Texan, Dr. Lowry obtained his undergraduate degree from Texas A&M University and his medical degree from the University Of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed residency training in internal medicine and anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Having developed a desire to improve the lives of chronic pain patients, he went on to complete a one year pain management fellowship at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Lowry and his wife are happy to return to Texas and he is available for consultation in our South Austin office or our new location in Lakeway.
Kim Kosatka, RN, MSN, FNP-C
Kim graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelors degree in Spanish, and then began her nursing studies at the University of Texas at Arlington where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She practiced as an RN in Med/Surg and Nephrology in Waco, TX for a year before moving to Austin to begin work on a Masters in Nursing. While completing her education, she worked as a charge nurse in Nephrology and Dialysis. She graduated in 2005 from the University of Texas at Austin with a Masters degree in Family Nurse Practitioner studies. Upon graduation, Kim decided to move into the field of Pain Management, as working with dialysis patients had opened her eyes to the world of chronic pain. She now enjoys working with chronic pain patients in order to help diagnose, treat and manage their pain in an effort to improve their quality of life.
